Corey Smith, LCSW

Corey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Aurora University. He has extensive experience providing individual, family, and group therapy with adolescents and young adults presenting with a wide range of behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. His clinical experience has included working in a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program, inpatient setting, and a residential treatment center.   As a Clinical Coordinator, Corey also oversaw the Self-Injury program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates from 2009 until 2018.  In 2018, Corey took on the role of Clinical Coordinator for the Amita Alexian Brothers Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program in Crystal Lake, a program he was instrumental in creating.

 

Corey uses an empathetic approach to find resolution to treatment concerns such as depression, anxiety, self-harm and family communication issues. Corey has gained great knowledge in working with adolescents and young adults struggling with social, school and life transition issues. Corey utilizes a compassionate person-centered approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as parent education and support.  Clients describe Corey as relatable and easy to talk to, which helps foster the therapeutic relationship and allow clients to achieve their highest potential.
