Alicia Mendoza, LPC is a clinical mental health therapist at the Center for Emotional Wellness who works with adults and young adults from diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves, strengthen the connection between mind and body, and navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and resilience.
Alicia earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University, where her training emphasized a holistic, socially conscious, and relational approach to therapy.
She works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, body image concerns, self-esteem challenges, and difficulties within personal and family relationships. She also has experience supporting individuals navigating psychosis and other complex mental health concerns. Alicia is particularly focused on helping clients ground themselves, explore their identity, and develop a deeper understanding of their internal experiences.
Her approach is integrative, drawing from Adlerian, person-centered, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and psychodynamic frameworks. She collaborates with clients to explore current challenges and deeper patterns, including difficult or avoided parts of the self, while fostering insight, growth, and a culturally inclusive, supportive space for healing.
Alicia has a specialized interest in working with athletes, particularly those in high-performance and combat sports, addressing mental performance, injury recovery, and identity beyond sport.
Outside of her clinical work, Alicia trains in mixed martial arts, including boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She also enjoys rock climbing, spending time outdoors, and incorporating art into her life, with painting being one of her favorite creative outlets. She values health, creativity, and movement as integral parts of both her personal life and therapeutic presence.
