Cynthia Rosales, BA, Graduate Intern
Cynthia is passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families to promote emotional wellness, strengthen coping skills, and build healthy relationships. She has experience supporting youth with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs and values partnering with families to help children feel supported both at home and in their communities.
Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois Chicago and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School. She currently works as a Mental Health Counselor on the inpatient psychiatry unit at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where she supports children and adolescents experiencing and presenting with a variety of mental and behavioral health concerns. Her clinical experience includes working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, disordered eating and eating disorders, substance use, and other complex mental health needs.
As a bilingual English and Spanish speaker, Cynthia is especially passionate about providing culturally responsive and inclusive care. She strives to create a space where children and families feel comfortable, understood, and supported, including having the opportunity to communicate in the language they feel most comfortable speaking.
As she continues her counseling training, Cynthia uses a holistic, integrative, and person-centered approach while incorporating evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Family Systems approaches. She believes that creating a compassionate and nonjudgmental environment is essential to building a strong therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Outside of her clinical training, Cynthia enjoys discovering new books and music, traveling, attending concerts and music festivals, spending time with family and friends, and being with her two huskies as well as two cats.
