Hanna Wright, LPC
Hanna is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) who earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. Hanna has experience working in a variety of community-based settings. Hanna received specialized training at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital where she worked as a counselor on their inpatient units. This training opportunity provided her with the skills to respond to crises calmly yet efficiently and has strengthened her ability to de-escalate situations. Hanna is experienced in working with children, adolescents, and young adults presenting with various concerns including anxiety, depression, self-injury, suicidal ideation, body image concerns, and disordered eating. Hanna has a special interest in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals to help them navigate social and medical transitions, political stress, family conflict, and self-acceptance. Hanna works with individuals and families to help navigate challenges that disrupt the family system.
Hanna believes that the therapeutic rapport between client and counselor is of utmost importance. Working from a person-centered and relationship-based lens, Hanna strives to first build trust with her clients and creates a safe, empathetic space for them to exist. Hanna also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to inform her work with her clients. Therapy is not a “one size fits all” solution; Hanna prides herself on being able to work with her clients to determine what approach is best suited for them.
When she’s not at work, Hanna enjoys cooking and baking various treats for friends and family. Her interests also include watching US women’s soccer, attending musicals and concerts, and spending time with her cats Fluffers and Oslo. –
